AHDRA ADDS CALIFORNIA RACE TO 2004 NATIONAL POINTS SERIES AND PLANS FOR BRAINERD, MN EVENT UNDERWAY
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., January 2, 2004 - AHDRA headquarters announced today that a National Points race will be held at Famoso Raceway (eighteen miles north of Bakersfield, CA) on May 1st and 2nd, 2004.
After much anticipation about and demand for a race in the California area, AHDRA President Craig Tharpe says he was happy he was able to accommodate the request with the help of Famoso Raceway staff.
"We hope that racers and fans alike will support our efforts and make our first-time appearance there a successful one," Tharpe commented. "Anytime you add a new region to the schedule, it is always a risk. It takes a lot of sponsor and promotional support to put on a good event, and we will be working hard to implement a solid marketing plan for this new venue."
The title sponsorship has already been secured for the event from S & S Cycle, a long- time participating sponsor of AHDRA. Tharpe says that AHDRA is seeking additional support from local Harley-Davidson dealers, aftermarket dealers, and other manufacturers involved in the sport.
More news will follow in the coming weeks on the Famoso Raceway appearance as well as upcoming plans for a National Points event still in the works at Brainerd International Raceway (Brainerd, MN) July 30th-August 1st.
