S&S CYCLE, INCORPORATED ANNOUNCES AVAILABILITY OF 160 C.I. 60º V-TWIN ENGINES

VIOLA, WI, March 24, 2003 - To meet racer demands and comply with the new AHDRA and NHRA competition rules, S&S Cycle, Inc. announces release of their new 60º V-Twin engine for Pro-Stock class competitors.

S&S Cycle Media/Events Manager James Simonelli says that 4.8" bore - 4-3/8" stroke 160 cubic inch 60º four-cam Sportster style V-Twin engine components are now available to racers. These engines are the result of ongoing S&S research and development working with Dave Feazell of Two-Wheel Travel and Tom Bradford of Thunder Eagle Racing and Hal's Harley-Davidson.

Simonelli explained that prototypes of the 60º engine have produced very encouraging test results on the S&S chassis dyno. The 60º cylinder spread provides more room for improving the intake tract and allows shorter rods, which reduces weight and helps the valve train. This is the first 60º engine available as a result of a major S&S effort to develop a power plant competitive at the highest level of AHDRA and NHRA Pro-Stock Bike competition. S&S is pleased that the AHDRA has agreed to make their Pro-Stock class rules the same as the NHRA rules. This allows all Pro-Stock bike V-Twin competitors to work towards the same set of rules and build a 550-pound bike and rider combination with a goal to compete for the national title in either sanction.

Simonelli went on to say that these Pro-Stock engine components will initially be available at Two-Wheel Travel of Hudson, Iowa and Hal's Speed Shop of New Berlin, Wisconsin. The engines can be obtained complete, unassembled or assembled and ready to run, or by individual pieces with or without fuel injection and ignition systems. Primary drive, transmission and clutch parts are also available. Parts orders can be delivered within four weeks or less in most cases, depending upon components and options. Complete and partial assemblies may take longer.

Engine component information packets are available through S&S, Two Wheel Travel and Hal's Speed Shop. For those interested in seeing the parts "hands on," the Bradford Thunder Eagle Racing Team trailer will have samples available for inspection at the AHDRA Phoenix event April 4th to 6th.

This is a very exciting time for Pro-Stock racing and S&S Cycle. S&S is proud to sponsor the 2003 AHDRA Pro-Stock class and be a part of this great AHDRA sanctioning body.
