Points standings following the AHDRA Rivera Primo Arizona Bike Week Nationals determined the fourteen riders chosen for the first of three exhibition appearances in 2003.
Riders from the U.S., Canada, and Japan will make up the field to qualify for a spot in the eight-bike elimination field. Qualifying will take place on Friday and Saturday during each national event, with eliminations on Sunday alongside the biggest stars of drag racing in Top Fuel, Funny Car, and Pro Stock ranks.
At the conclusion of each event, each exhibition winner will be awarded a special trophy and participate in an NHRA Screamin' Eagle Nitro Harley winners circle ceremony. Total event purse for the eight-bike field is $11,500, with $4,000 going to the winner and $2,000 to the runner-up.
Ray Price (Raleigh, NC) was first among the fourteen AHDRA competitors to qualify for the exhibition following his Screamin' Eagle Nitro Harley Top Fuel win in Phoenix. Price says he was excited about his win at Firebird Raceway.
"Our crew worked very hard and stayed focused, and the combination worked very well for us," he said. "We were able to get dialed in to the track and to the conditions to pull off the win. AHDRA did a great job out there and we were happy about that." Price says he is looking forward to the upcoming NHRA appearance. "It's a great track, it's close to home, and we love putting on a show for the crowd."
The Screamin' Eagle Nitro Harley exhibitions will take place in Bristol, TN (April 25-27); Chicago, IL (Sept 25-28); and Dallas, TX (October 9-12).
