RIDERS TUNING UP FOR MAPLE GROVE: AHDRA HEADED TO MAPLE GROVE RACEWAY FOR THE SCREAMIN' EAGLE PERFORMANCE PARTS RACE OF CHAMPIONS, MAY 18TH & 19TH!

Winston-Salem, N.C.,May 10, 2002-AHDRA East Coast competitors are coming off a long break while the AHDRA 25th Anniversary tour made a sweep out West, giving riders ample tuning time for next weeks Screamin' Eagle Performance Parts Race of Champions.

JIMS Top Fuel Champion, Steve Moore will head to Maple Grove Raceway with a new sponsor and motor in tow. Moore, will be riding for Chromatic Racing with his newly installed, (Canadian built) PRP Elite Motor. "Dennis Paul of Chromatic has always been a lot of help to us", Moore commented. "We are real happy to be a part of the Chromatic Racing Team."

Local Pennsylvania riders, Greg Grove and Russ Hildenbrand have kept the wrenches turning for their upcoming hometown appearance. Hildenbrand has a new Top Fueler in the works, but in the meantime, will enter his Pro Fueler in the JIMS Top Fuel class.

Hildenbrand had this to say regarding next week's race. "We run a PRP motor in the Pro Fueler. As soon as we put that motor in, we started running sixes right off the truck. We will be out there trying to win. We'll have our trailer painted by the time we get to Maple Grove, he added. It will be the biggest purple thing you've ever seen."

Greg Grove has had an expensive road back to competition, after breaking two motors at the Bradenton, Florida season opener. "We've got them both back together, and ready to go", Grove stated. Grove says he'll have about 100 hometown fans on hand to support him.

Most competitors are fortunate if they have a back-up motor on board, but the Out of Time Race team and rider, Tommy Sloan have the luxury of two complete Top fuelers, in addition to a Championship Pro Fuel machine. "We started out the season on the bike I built last year. I was more comfortable on it and we were still ironing out problems with the other bike owned by Out of Time Racing's, Andy Zalewski. We qualified #1 in Phoenix with the first "6" of the weekend. We planned to run Andy's bike in Roswell, but after bad air and lifting the cylinders in a test & tune, we pulled the other bike back off the trailer. We have real high hopes for the bikes and Andy Z. and the Out of Time Racing Team plan to be contenders for the point's championship. This is Sloan's first time competing at Maple Grove Raceway. "We are excited about going there," he added.

Can four in a row be in the works? Just ask Pro Stock Champion, Tom Bradford who has three wins under his belt. "We are certainly hoping for it, a optimistic Bradford said this week. "We are making improvements and enhancements to the intake system. The bike was mechanically solid after the Roswell race, but we can't seem to keep our hands off of it." We're always looking to put new irons in the fire.
