AHDRA NATIONAL POINTS SERIES HEADS SOUTH FOR THE STONE MOUNTAIN HARLEY-DAVIDSON SOUTHERN NATIONALS, MAY 24-25
WINSTON-SALEM, NC, May 12, 2003 - Following back-to-back Western Division appearances, AHDRA is gearing up for down-home excitement at Atlanta Dragway on May 24th and 25th for the Stone Mountain Harley-Davidson Southern Nationals.
AHDRA plans one of the biggest shows of the 2003 series as racers and fans from across the country converge on the Commerce, GA, facility. Fans will witness top guns of the sport -blazing the quarter-mile strip in six seconds!
Adding Southern hospitality to the weekend will be this year's title sponsor, Stone Mountain Harley-Davidson. Owner Greg Becker says he and his staff are very excited about hosting this year's AHDRA event. "This is a great venture for us and we plan to make it lots of fun for our customers who like to watch these bikes go fast. We are huge race fans here, and we have a great group of people always ready to expand our customer activities and get [everyone] involved."
To kick off the action-packed weekend, Stone Mountain Harley-Davidson (located at 2060 Ross Road, in Lilburn, GA) will host the official AHDRA Kickstart Party on Friday, May 23rd, from 5:00-8:00 p.m., with AHDRA race bikes - and lots more - on display. (Scheduled to appear: Bojangles Top Fuel Racing/Mark Cox and Thunder Eagle Pro Stock Racing/Tom Bradford)
According to Becker, Stone Mountain Harley-Davidson plans loads to see and do at Atlanta Dragway, including his new line of Thunder Custom Cycles, bike demo rides, dealer merchandise, and more. Stone Mountain Harley-Davidson also plans to lead a ride to the races with several hundred participants from its fifteen-hundred-member H.O.G. club.
Racing gets under way on Saturday with qualifying at 9:00 a.m. On Sunday, sportsman eliminations begin at 9:00 a.m., and the Pros take the track at 12:30 p.m. Gates open both days at 8:00 a.m.
Admission to the Stone Mountain Harley-Davidson Southern Nationals is $40 for two days and $25 for single-day passes. Children under 12 are admitted free, and H.O.G. members receive a $5 discount at the gate.
AHDRA hosts sixteen classes of competition, including the 200 mph Screamin' Eagle Nitro Harleys, Modified gas bikes, Street bikes, junior dragsters, and more.
