AHDRA DELIVERS A SNEAK PREVIEW OF RACING DURING FUNDRAISING EVENT AT GATEWAY INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., MAY 24, 2005-The Surdyke Family of Harley-Davidson dealerships held the annual Gypsy Rendezvous fundraising event Sunday, May 22nd at Gateway International Raceway-Madison, IL.

The event was held to benefit the James S. McDonnell USO of St. Louis, MO.

In addition to the bike raffle, a concert, free beer and many vendors the 2,000-plus attendees enjoyed a drag racing show put on by the All Harley Drag Racing Association- setting the stage for the upcoming AHDRA National event to be held at Gateway Int'l Raceway in September.

The fans were in awe, some seeing the 800-horsepower nitro Harleys for the first time.

Mike Bahnmaier and Scott Truett of Wichita, KS along with Mike Romine of Sturgis, MI were on hand for the nitro-preview and it was Romine bringing the crowd to their feet with a 6.55 at 206mph final run.

Classes were set up for bracket racing-allowing fans to give their own machines a try at the quarter mile strip.

Jon Binns took the top prize in the Pro ET class, while Ray Devine of St. Louis, MO took the win in the ET-XL/Buell division.

Local rider, John Horn was the winner in the ET-Big Twin category and in a shoot-out run for the three ET class winners it was Horn taking the win and title - King of the Arch.

AHDRA returns to Gateway International Raceway September 3rd and 4th for the Surdyke Harley-Davidson Midwest Nationals presented by Drag Specialties.
