AHDRA HARLEY-DAVIDSON DEALERS REGIONAL DRAG RACING SERIES KICKS OFF JULY 15th
AT MARYLAND INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY

AHDRA headquarters has announced the formation of the AHDRA Harley-Davidson Dealers Regional Drag Racing Series beginning with an event at Maryland International Raceway in Budds Creek, MD, on July 15th.

AHDRA President Craig Tharpe stated that the series is an effort to provide the Harley racing community with more opportunities to race.

"The series-formed in concert with the Harley-Davidson Motor Company-will provide the perfect environment for competitors to hone their skills and become accustomed to the procedures of national events," said Tharpe.

"AHDRA members also desire to compete more often than may be afforded by the National Event Series. Travel time and the expenses involved can also limit the number of national events that most competitors can attend," he added.

The one-day events are designed to provide a great day of racing and fun for both competitors and fans, along with the added incentive of promoting the local Harley-Davidson dealerships that become involved.

Alan Rutherford and Kathleen Hessian will oversee the logistics of the series. Rutherford has been named Regional Racing Manager and Hessian has been named Regional Events Manager.

As motorcycle enthusiasts and with a combined total of 17 years in the motorsports industry, most recently as members of the Drag Specialties/Parts Unlimited team, Alan and Kathleen bring extensive experience to the Regional Series at AHDRA.

Alan and Kathleen are excited to join the AHDRA team and look forward to putting their experience to the best possible use in organizing and promoting motorcycle events for this new series.

The 2006 AHDRA Harley Dealers Regional Series will kick off July 15th at Maryland International Raceway in Budds Creek, MD.

All classes currently offered at AHDRA national events will be offered in the Regional Series with the exception of Pro Stock and the Top Fuel and Pro Fuel classes will be featured as "Nitro Harley Match Racing." A complete listing of classes and prize purses are here.

The inaugural event in Maryland will also include a custom bike show and live entertainment featuring the Heather Edwards Band.

Gates open on Saturday, July 15th, at 8:00 a.m. with qualifying, time trials, and fun runs beginning at 9:00 a.m.
