TIRE SMOKING, FIRE BREATHING NITRO ACTION FROM THE U.S. AND CANADA COMING TO BRISTOL DRAGWAY FOR THE SMITH BROTHER'S HARLEY-DAVIDSON THUNDER IN THE VALLEY NATIONALS PRESENTED BY SOUTHEASTERN BONDING

Winston-Salem, NC, July 25, 2002- The AHDRA is geared up and ready to rock fans with a powerful show at Bristol Dragway, August 10th & 11th.

The Smith Brother's Harley-Davidson Thunder In The Valley Nationals presented by Southeastern Bonding promises to be one of the largest events on the 2002 AHDRA National points tour.

Smith Brother's Harley-Davidson will lead off the action- packed weekend with the official AHDRA Kickstart Party, Friday 5-8pm. AHDRA JIMS Top Fuel Champion, Steve Moore will be on hand for autographs and an up close look at his 2001 Championship nitro machine. The AHDRA will host a special test and tune session for riders from 4-10pm at Bristol Dragway. Spectators are invited to attend for a $5 fee.

Fans can expect to see top guns of the sport in all categories including, JIMS Top Fuel favorites, Mark "The Hammer" Cox (Bojangles/Crossroads H-D), Orangeburg Cycles, Bill Furr and a special east coast appearance from National points leader, Ron Houniet of British Columbia, Canada. In HD Afterparts.com Pro Fuel class, National Champion Tim Kerrigan will make the trip from California to defend his title against current point's leader, Mike Lehman of Palm Beach, FL and Ohio contenders Mike Rice and Chris Streeter of FBM Racing.

Appearing for the hometown fans will be multiple sponsor, Team VIP, featuring sportsman riders, Rick Cathcart, Mike Fitzgerald, Joe Perry, Greg Alan, Susie Wevodau, Junior Dragster Champion, Drew Proffitt and JIMS Top Fuel Champion, Steve Moore.

In the heads-up Spyke Street Pro competition, rival riders Doug Morrow of Daytona Beach, Florida (Carl's Speed Shop) and 2-time National Champion, Travis Lummus (Gene Lummus H-D) will continue their battle for National Record honors.

Gates open at Bristol Dragway on Saturday and Sunday at 8am. Saturday qualifying starts at 10:30am. Saturday night special attractions include live entertainment featuring "The Smyle Band" with an appearance from the Hooter's girls of Johnson City.

There's also special entertainment for kids 16 and under Saturday night featuring a live D.J., cloggers and the AHDRA Junior Dragsters.

Sunday, gates open at 8:00am with eliminations at 12:30pm. Special features include a Ride In Bike Show. All entries should be in by 2:00pm, judging starts at 3:00pm.

Admission to Bristol Dragway is $35 for the weekend, $20 on Saturday and $25 on Sunday. Children 12 and under are admitted free and H.O.G. members receive a $5 discount at the gate.
