TEAM BULLDOG BITES HARD IN SCREAMIN' EAGLE NITRO HARLEY AND MULTIPLE RECORDS SET AT THE S & S CYCLE MID-ATLANTIC NATIONALS PRESENTED BY ALL AMERICAN HARLEY-DAVIDSON AND HARLEY-DAVIDSON OF FREDERICK, JULY 19TH AND 20TH, 2003
WINSTON-SALEM, NC, July 30, 2003 - Weather conditions were pleasant and excitement was at a peak
at AHDRA's mid-season stop at Maryland International Raceway.
The fans turned out in hearty numbers to see the best of the best battle it out on the newly renovated facility located in Budds Creek, Maryland. Maryland International Raceway owner Royce Miller and his staff provided a top-notch playground for three hundred-plus Harley drag racers to bring their "big boy (and girl) toys" out for a fun-filled, high-powered weekend of racing.

In Screamin' Eagle Nitro Harley action, Bill Furr and the OCR team from Orangeburg, SC, left
the crowd wanting more after Saturday's 6.475, 214.72 mile-per-hour, number-one qualifying pass.
While Furr's quarter-mile blast on Saturday was the quickest and fastest of the weekend, it was
Jay Turner of Whitsett, NC, who pulled out the win aboard his Team Bulldog machine in the
final against RMC Racing's Larry "Drums" Brancaccio. Turner collected the cash and the
trophy with his 6.680 at 206.13 mph over Brancaccio's 7.255 at 152.52 mph pass.

Fortunate fans witnessed record-breaking numbers in several classes of competition throughout the weekend, including impressive numbers from Travis Lummus of Asheville, NC. Lummus landed all the spots in the record books in Rivera-Primo Street Pro competition with a 9.112 E.T. and a mile-per-hour record of 147.83 in the quarter mile. His eighth-mile marks were 5.844 at 122.20 mph. Even though Lummus swept the records, he was humble - and happy for Nicholas Gonatas after the Youngstown, OH, native beat Lummus in the final round. Gonatas bettered the record-setting champion's 9.575 at 146.34 mph with his own proud marks of 9.391 at 144.30 mph for the win.
