AHDRA'S NEXT STOP: HEARTLAND PARK TOPEKA FOR THE MIDWEST NATIONALS PRESENTED BY TOPEKA HARLEY-DAVIDSON, AUGUST 23RD AND 24TH

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., August 18, 2003 - There's no place like...Kansas. That's the phrase this week as AHDRA gears up for a first-time stop at Heartland Park Topeka for the Midwest Nationals presented by Topeka Harley-Davidson.

AHDRA President Craig Tharpe says the demand for a Harley drag racing event in the area has grown tremendously, and he is grateful to the staff at Heartland Park Topeka and this year's presenting sponsor, Topeka Harley-Davidson, for making it possible to hold the event at this spectacular facility.

The staff of Topeka Harley-Davidson will welcome race fans with a fun-filled evening on Friday, August 22nd, at the AHDRA Kickstart Party at the dealership, which is located at 2047 S.W. Topeka Blvd. The party starts at 5:00 p.m. and will feature AHDRA notables Tom Bradford (two-time S & S Pro Stock National Champion) and Joker Machine Pro Modified rider Greg Byrnes.

The pre-race celebration will continue when AHDRA joins the fun at the Ag Hall Expocenter, located at 17th and Topeka Blvd., for the Boys and Girls Club of Topeka Harley Party, starting at 7:00 p.m. Local AHDRA racer Mike Bahnmaier will be on hand to display his Screamin' Eagle Nitro Harley; participants will have a chance to win a truly outstanding prize. The entry fee to the party is $25 and includes dinner, drinks, live entertainment by "The Shake," and a raffle ticket to win a 2003 100th Anniversary Harley-Davidson Sportster. On Saturday, August 23rd, the racing action begins at Heartland Park Topeka when the gates open at 8:00 a.m. A Test-and-Tune session will get under way at 10:00 a.m., and fans will enjoy the tire-smoking, nitro-burning action into the evening, with the first of three qualifying rounds beginning at 2:00 p.m.

On Sunday, the gates open at 8:00 a.m. with Sportsman Eliminations at 12:30 p.m. and Pro Eliminations at 2:00 p.m.

Admission to the Midwest Nationals presented by Topeka Harley-Davidson is $40 for the weekend and $25 for single-day passes. H.O.G. members receive a $5 discount at the gate, and children under 12 are admitted free.
