WINSTON-SALEM, NC, October 4, 2007 - The All Harley Drag Racing Association (AHDRA) heads to Rockingham Dragway October 13th and 14th for the final East Coast appearance of the season at the Screamin' Eagle Performance Parts Nationals.
Over 300 competitors are expected to take the track in the 16 classes of competition offered up in AHDRA's 2007 Screamin' Eagle Performance Parts Championship Series, including 220 mph nitro Harleys, street bikes, and more.
The Championship standings in several classes are closer than ever before making it a special treat for fans when they see the best riders in the sport battle it out at the famed Rockingham Dragway, known to many as "The Rock".
In the Screamin' Eagle Nitro Harley field, Tak Shigematsu of Ehime, Japan pulled ahead of New Mexico's Doug Vancil in the standings after back-to-back wins earlier in the season. Only 64 points separate the pair from the top spot.
For Shigematsu it would be a first career championship while Vancil holds previous AHDRA and IHRA Championship titles. Vancil set the national E.T. record (6.236) at Rockingham Dragway in 2006 and the record still stands.
In the 3rd spot and just 88 point's out of 2nd position is Carolina's own Jay Turner who will be "the one to watch" in Rockingham.
Turner is coming off a stellar weekend at Virginia Motorsports Park where he grabbed double honors-winning both the Top Fuel and Pro Fuel categories for the 2nd consecutive year at that event.
In 2005, Turner pulled off that same exceptional performance at Rockingham Dragway before taking another Top Fuel win and setting a Top Fuel MPH record (224.66) there in 2006.
Heading into Rockingham for the 2007 show, Turner has a perfect final round appearance record in Pro Fuel competition and is headed for the #1 plate while a strong performance in the Top Fuel Category could very well put him in contention for double National Championship titles.

In the Samson Exhaust Pro Modified category, all eyes are on Oregon's Randy Borho and New Mexico's Greg Krenik. The pair has met in five finals this season and they have earned four wins each. Krenik dominated the record books and was on top of the leader board until Borho's record setting weekend in Woodburn, OR which he followed with a win in Virginia to put him ten point's in front of Krenik as they both head east to Rockingham Dragway with their eyes on the #1 plate.
Racing against a set index (10.30) in S & S Super Sport racing it will be Californian John Cabral and K.W. Seneca of Irving, NY giving it their best in Rockingham. The pair is currently separated by 30 points which sets the stage for a round by round contest in Rockingham to see who can ultimately hang on for the championship title.

In the Syn3 ET bracket-racing category Bob Drapp of Winter Haven, FL will try to make enough rounds to keep him in front of Bill Rowe Jr. of Hellertown, PA. Drapp the defending champ in Super Gas racing has a slight 16-point margin over Rowe heading to Rockingham. With 20-points awarded per round, it's another must see match-up.
Fans will see this and much more at the Screamin' Eagle Performance Parts Nationals.
