Requires notice of major!
      #59514 - 11/02/09 06:28 PM (86.214.208.4)

Hello,
I work to built my first Dragster for TOP GAS Category. At first time, I believe to begin with 103CI on HD OEM Sportster engine cases. But I need to learn how to mount very hight performance engine. The way is long, I believe. I know disassembly and assembly HD engine, but be young in preparation of them. And buy part by part is not easy and expensive (more if I make mistake). I have a 883 Sportster engine, Do you thinks that it's a good idea to begin little for my project with the S&S 89XL SS complete kit, assembly it and understand the begin of preparation by work on the part of this kit, make race, maybe change cams after ...
Did someone used this kit? which rear wheel HP could have with this kit? must i change the bear box trapp door by another more strong (like Zippers or Bandits trapp door)?
Can I keep OEM gear box to begin or need change by Andrews Set box with primary and secundary axles?
Your mind is welcome
Thanks

you can see the kind of time and speed (in km/h unit) at http://www.topgas.com/

In Top Gas category, we just work on engine, no NOS, nitro Methane or Alcohol
if you give me your mail address, I can send you the TOP GAS Construction Rules?

Looks like the 1/4 mile record is 7.3 and the average is right shy of 8? Might be a good idea to by brooke mccabes bike for 30gs

In 1995, the winner race 1/4 miles under 6s with engine above 112CI 4 cams (HD Sportster 4 speed cases), I don't think so that we can do same or best with just 89CI, right?
To your mind how many HP and peak speed could we have with 89CI in race configuration? To your mind is it better to begin drive dragster with 89CI or directly begin with more CI example 114 ou 120CI and don't open wide the throttle at first race!?
or beginning directly with 114, 120CI and mount not race ignition and carb to limit the HP, speed? at first race, to learn step by step and make evolution on the engine in same time the driver will be good?
Maybe it is solution to avoid to buy 2 engines, because it's not cheap

you are wanting your bike to go in the mid 7 seconds in the 1/4 mile, is that correct?
