Capone Racing, Team HeadBlade, and Bammer Racing - Bristol Report
August 7, 2012
What a weekend at Bristol Dragway,Bristol, TN, for AHDRA's Thunder in the Valley Nationals Presented by 95.9 The Hog and 93.9 FM94. Not only was there THUNDER but there was lighting and copious amounts of RAIN RAIN RAIN, but as usual AHDRA and the fabulous crew at Bristol Dragway not only got in the event but the racers provided some of the best closest racing seen in a while.
Drums Brancaccio of Bammer Racing qualified in the tight Screamin' Eagle Top Fuel field but a fuel pump issue put him out in the first round on DJ Johnson's American Cycle ride. But points are points at this time of the year and Brancaccio should move up a little (will make announcement when the official AHDRA points are posted probably later this wk).
In the Reno/HeadBlade and Capone Racing pits it was action packed with friends and family filling not only the grandstands but the lawn chairs in the pits. A large time was had by all and munchies and great food abounded. BUT they came to race and race they did, showing off the new CP pistons. Reno qualified just fine in AHDRA Pro Mod field and despite an bountiful amount of Little Debbie snack cakes, he could only make 2 rounds before being outed. However, it's about points this time of year and with both teams partnering to make the AHDRA Woodburn race the end of the month, there's still time to make some serious moves to the TOP.
Capone Racing brought out that "very special and "somewhat" radical Rush Pro Gas bike and proved that it was more than ready for some test and tune, qualifying #1 with a snappy 8.265 ET and then winning the event, it was not a pretty final but it was a WIN light for Capone as both bikes stuttered through the lights. BUT a win's a win and even though late in the season Capone has a chance to gather enough points to finish in a good spot at season's end.
This weekend was pretty decent in Pro Mod for Capone, qualifying 2nd and making it to the finals after gleaning points throughout the eliminations. A quick look over in points would indicate that Capone should be holding on to the 1st place spot in Pro Mod but the gap is narrowed a little.
