Two Times Two Equals Two for Dream Chaser Racin'

August 31, 2012

Dream Chaser Racin', Janette Thornley had a great weekend at the AHDRA Woodburn Northwest Nitro Nationals Presented by Oak Grove Choppers, Fast Bikes Inc., Mulligans & More as she continues to run amazing times in the 2012 AHDRA Championship Series in the Hawaya Racing/Vreeland's Harley-Davidson Pro Drag class.

Running one test pass Friday night, Thornley out ran her fastest time and mph again, an outstanding 7.315 ET at 179.46 mph. She qualified number two, finished number two and moved up two spots in the national points chase simply thrilling the entire team and family as she was racing 30 miles from her hometown of McMinnville Oregon.

Saturday proved to be an interesting qualifying day as three different racers held the #1 spot throughout the day. Finishing in the #2 spot, Janette ran better with each pass, running a 7.555 ET at 168.00 mph in round one; a 7.465 ET at 171.20 mph in round two; 7.399 ET at 173.27 mph in round three.

On Sunday, Janette took the win during round one eliminations running a 7.714 ET at 161.49 mph, after being paired with Bruce Barker. Receiving a by run during the semi-finals, she continued to perform strong and ran a 7.416 ET at 165.04 mph.

Moving into the finals against Dale Niles, Thornley knew it will be a fight to the finish line as they had run within a few hundredths of each other all weekend. Dale's holeshot took the win with a 7.460 ET at 167.75 mph against Thornley's 7.415 ET at 166.88 mph. Just not off the line quick enough to pull off the win for Dream Chaser Racin'.

"Dale and I always run a close race, last race losing by .0549 of a second and this race losing by .0342, Dale actually won by a hole-shot" said Thornley, "Ive got to fine tune my reaction time so I capture the next win!"

The weekend didn't go without its bike challenges as the team had to chase down 3 separate issues, 2 of which were on elimination day. First - melting a drive belt, second - an ignition switch failure, and then a broken wire almost made her miss the semi-final round.

"The team really pulled together to get me going" said Janette "it's amazing how quick they all jumped in to find the problem and tackle it, I love the team, their knowledge, and appreciate all they continue to do for me".
